Basketball Food Marketing - Tim and Chris Burger

In Honor of playing the Rockets, we're going to step back a few decades and relive two of the more amusing basketball and fast food crossovers. The Tim and Chris burger, or is it the Chris and Tim Burger and the Double Decker Taco.

First, to preface it, I couldn't find any screenshots or streaming video of McDonald's ad campaign featuring Chris Mullin and Tim Hardaway. It's a shame that they aren't somewhere out on the internet. The commercial featured the "T" and "C" of Run TMC arguing over whether it was called the "Tim and Chris Burger" or the "Chris and Tim Burger." The burger wasn't anything special, but the fact that we had two basketball stars hawking us meat and cheese between two patties made the burger just taste better.

Thinking of the Tim and Chris Burger brings back childhood memories of watching the original Nellieball flow up and down the court. Tim's "Texas Two-Step" Crossover and of course, Mullie's array of threes, jumpshots, and ackward looking lay-ups. I could go on about Billy Owens, but I won't, not today.

Playing against the Rockets, brings back memories of another, more recent basketball and fastfood crossover. The Double Decker Taco, from Taco Bell. Featured during the 1995 Finals Series between the Orlando Magic and the Houston Rockets. This was way easier to find on YouTube.

Let's hope the Warriors play up to the level of the Rockets and can get back into being comfortable as the underdogs.

Nelsons' Intentions

It seems that Nelson has "every intention" of completing the contract extension he just signed. (SFGate)

Frustration brews amongst the Warrior faithful over the overexertion of a handful of players on the roster, while others, who seem to contribute, albeit sporadically, see "yo-yo" minutes. For example, we've seen the meteoric rise and fall of Anthony Morrow, while also witnessing a cameo start from Belinelli. While Ronny Turiaf leads the league in blocks per minute, he also seems to suffer from not having Nelson's total confidence in his offensive game, which means his minutes are limited. Turiaf along with Wright and Randolph is always exciting, especially around the rim. However, the young forwards epitomize inconsistency.

Last night's game against the Heat also threw up a red flag that we've already seen this year. Inbounding. It's desperation time when Warrior fans wax-nostalgic about Mike Montgomery's amazing inbound plays. It's very sad to see the W's having such problems with what seems like a basic part of the game. But it points to a bigger part of the problem, ball control.

Nelson's got his work cut out, first, spreading the minutes around will benefit end of game ball control. Exhaustion leads to turnovers. Second, he's got to build confidence in his bench players, as well as in himself. He's got to trust that his second unit can be successful.

Fire Nellie Movement

Once again Warrior fans are finding themselves in dark times. The W's are 0-5 coming back from a road trip that had 2 winnable games. But they somehow found a way to not only lose the games, but get blown out by the Wiz and the Knicks.

The time has finally come to start the Fire Nellie movement.

This isn't directly aimed at Nellie, but at the W's front office as a whole. In fact, it may be more appropriate to name this the Fire Rowell movement.

However, Nellie's been making some questionable moves...

And Fire Nellie just sounds better.
